Bondz 'Gala has made steady progress through the Academy ranks at West Ham United and is now starting to make an impact at reserve-team level.
Kevin Keen described the central defender's performance at home to Chelsea in January 2008 as a man of the match display, as the teenager nicknamed Bonzo kept a lively visiting attack at bay in a 0-0 draw. The Forest Gate-based youngster cites Carlos Tevez as his all-time favourite West Ham United player and he has shown, on occasion, some fancy footwork in opposition penalty areas. Having regularly played alongside both Jordan Spence and James Tomkins, 'Gala is one of a strong contingent of talented centre-backs coming through.
Soon after that Chelsea fixture, 'Gala went off to Weymouth for a brief work-experience spell, only for the 18-year-old to return by early February after a change of management at the non-league club. He did get the chance though to help Weymouth keep a clean sheet in a FA Trophy match against Kidderminster Harriers. Back at the Boleyn Ground, 'Gala naturally has ambitions of reaching the West Ham United first team and his aim is to one day test himself against Wayne Rooney at Old Trafford.
