Junior Stanislas is having a whale of a time down by the seaside as he continues his loan spell at Southend United.
The England Under-19 winger scored the Shrimpers' winner in their 1-0 League One win over Northampton on Boxing Day. Having starred on the left wing for the Roots Hall club in recent weeks, Stanislas is aiming to hit the net again during Sunday afternoon's trip to high-flying MK Dons. He said: "I feel like I'm getting better with every match right now. I'm enjoying playing first team football and it's been good for me. I'm certainly enjoying it."
Stanislas scored twice on his Southend debut - an FA Cup second round win over Luton Town - and has now managed three goals in five games for Steve Tilson's side. The latest of those strikes came in the shape of a magnificent 30-yard free-kick against the Cobblers. "I had one just before the goal which I didn't catch right but I knew the second one was in once it left my boot. It was great to see it go in and it was made even better by the fact we got the three points."
Stanislas is just one of six on-loan players in action on Sunday afternoon. Defender James Tomkins is expected to keep his place in the Derby County side for the Rams' Championship visit to Ipswich Town after completing 90 minutes in the Boxing Day defeat at Preston North End.
Midfielder Nigel Quashie, who is in his third month at Championship promotion-chasers Birmingham City, is hoping to be back in the Blues' starting line-up for the visit of Swansea City after being rested for the Boxing Day win at Ipswich Town. In League One, Jimmy Walker's Colchester United will take on Jordan Spence's Leyton Orient at the Community Stadium.
Left winger Kyel Reid will be in action for Blackpool when they take on Championship leaders Wolverhampton Wanderers at Bloomfield Road on Monday evening.
