Iain Dowie has told of his hopes that West Ham United go on and win the Carling Cup.
The Coventry City manager had two spells as a player at the Boleyn Ground, having first scored four times in 12 appearances in 1991 before playing a further 69 times, with nine goals, between 1995 and 1998. Speaking after Tuesday night's 2-1 fourth-round defeat in which his team more than held their own, Dowie admitted he remained a fan of his boyhood club and had high hopes for the rest of the competition.
He said: "Good luck to West Ham. Sometimes you don't get what you deserve out of football. You have got to be gracious in football, I am a West Ham fan so let's hope they go on and win it."
