This weekend's international focus offers the perfect opportunity to check out the West Ham United Ladies in action on Sunday afternoon.
Tony Marshall's side entertain Reading Royals at Harlow Town FC, with free admission to all for the 2pm kick-off, and the manager has urged fans to turn out in support. "These girls play on a strictly amateur basis and play for the privilege of wearing the claret and blue shirt every week," said Marshall, who had the satisfaction of a 2-0 win at Keynsham Town last Sunday.
"We had a superb performance last week away and with the Hammers men not having a game due to the international break this would be an ideal opportunity for West Ham fans to have a look at how the female Hammers have progressed," he added. "I have a number of promising young players in my squad and this week I am looking to give them all a run out.
"We beat Reading earlier in the season 9-0 in the League Cup; no doubt the Royals would have learned from that game so we cannot guarantee a repeat of that. We will be giving them the same respect we would give to any team but I can promise that anybody watching us for the first time will be seeing some good football and a few goals as well. We are not charging any admission this week and Harlow have some excellent facilities. Anybody who cares to come along will be made to feel more than welcome."
West Ham United Ladies play all their home fixtures at the home of Harlow Town FC. To get there go to Barrows Farm Stadium off Elizabeth Way, The Pinnacles Harlow, Essex, CM19 5BL.
