Ladies unlucky to lose at Millwall

Millwall 2-1 West Ham United

West Ham United Ladies will be wondering how they did not win after losing away to Millwall Lionesses in a contest in which they had totally dominated.

The south London club would have thought that Christmas had come early at half-time on Sunday when they went in at 0-0, after Lindsay Morgan, Tracey Duxbury, Katy Ling and Sam Pittuck had all come close to scoring. The home side had a familiar face to thank with former Hammers keeper Clare Lacey and some luck keeping the visitors out.

West Ham United finally took the lead through Ling on 49 minutes, and it seemed as if an avalanche of goals would follow. However, with just two shots on goal throughout the whole game the home side managed to take both of their chances and steal all three points. Indeed, the first real touch of the ball from goalkeeper Paris Smith was to pick the ball out of the net

A disappointed Marshall said: "I won't have to motivate these girls for the next few games, I have never seen a dressing room so solemn. None of us can quite believe that we have lost this game against a very average team." The Hammers now travel to Keynsham Town next week hoping to shake off their disappointment.
