Dailly called up to Scotland squad

Christian Dailly has been drafted into the Scotland national squad for their friendly against Austria on Wednesday and Euro 2008 qualifier against the Faroe Islands a week later.

After several players withdrew through injury, the 33-year-old Hammers defender was called up by coach Alex McLeish and was due to travel from London today to meet up with his international colleagues.

Meanwhile, Dailly's Upton Park team-mate Danny Gabbidon could be a doubt for Wales's Euro 2008 qualifier against the Czech Republic next Saturday. The 27-year-old defender played in a 2-2 friendly draw against New Zealand on Saturday - his first taste of action after four months out with a groin injury - and understandably took time to adjust.

Welsh coach John Toshack said: "We hope Gabbidon will play against the Czechs. Injury-wise there is no reaction. He was more comfortable as the game went on and when we added the extra defender he was protected a bit more.

"Usually he is quick and covers the ground well, but at the moment he is not there yet. He's rusty and not really match fit."
