Hammers v Bolton: Big Match Preview

West Ham United v Bolton Wanderers
Saturday 5th May 2007
Upton Park
Kick off: 3pm

Referee: Mike Riley (Leeds)

Team news:

Alan Curbishley is hoping to name an unchanged squad after last week's win at Wigan and is also hopeful Lucas Neill will recover from the ankle injury he picked up during that game to take part.

Bolton captain Kevin Nolan could be back in the side after recovering from an ankle injury as Sammy Lee takes charge for his first match as manager.

Stelios Giannakopoulos (groin) and Abdoulaye Faye (toe) are facing late fitness tests, while Tal Ben Haim, El-Hadji Diouf and Nicky Hunt remain sidelined.

Background:

Three points for Alan Curbishley's side could move them out of the bottom three, providing Wigan Athletic and Fulham fail to win their respective games against Middlesbrough and Liverpool.

The last time the two sides met at Upton Park, West Ham took the Trotters to extra time in an FA Cup fifth round replay before Marlon Harewood scored for a 2-1 win to propel the Hammers towards the FA Cup final at the Millenium Stadium.

Bolton won the reverse fixture 4-0 at the Reebok Stadium in December last year in Alan Pardew's last match in charge of the Hammers. Kevin Davies scored a brace and El Hadji Diouf and Nicolas Anelka also made the scoresheet.

Bolton are looking for a fifth straight League victory against West Ham. They recorded their first Premiership win at Upton Park in five attempts last season, and have put four League goals past the Hammers twice on their own patch since.
