Reserve team coach Steve Brown was delighted with his
players after they secured an impressive 2-0 win over his old club
Charlton Athletic on Tuesday night.
The result signalled Hammers' first win of the season in the Barclays Premiership Reserve League South, and Brown was full of pride for his young team after goals from Junior Stanislas and Freddie Sears proved the difference between the two sides.
"I am chuffed that we have finally got our first victory," said Steve. "Even though results are not the priority at reserve level, winning is a good habit and no player wants to lose a match.
"The performance was just as pleasing as the result. I thought we played some excellent football at times, were solid at the back, created a lot of chances and fully deserved the three points.
"All season, the team has chopped and changed and results obviously haven't been great but, in the main, I haven't been too disappointed, because we have tried to be positive in everything we have done.
"Even tonight, I didn't have a full bench, and we had a 15-year-old schoolboy come on in the second half, but we were positive and determined. Paul Konchesky showed a fantastic attitude - as have all of the senior players when they've been involved this season - and all in all, it was a very productive night."
