Davenport handed good news

Alan Curbishley has been handed a boost with the news that Calum Davenport's foot injury isn't as bad as first feared.

The central defender left Upton Park on crutches after Sunday's defeat against his former club Tottenham Hotspurs, amid fears that he may have sustained serious damage following a second-half challenge.

However a subsequent X-Ray and scan have revealed no fracture, just heavy bruising, and Calum is now having treatment before the Club's medical staff re-assess his situation at the end of the week.

Meanwhile, Nigel Quashie had five stitches after suffering a gash in his foot that forced him off on Sunday, and Matthew Upson is hopeful that a slight recurrence of his calf injury won't keep him sidelined for very long.

Danny Gabbidon and Yossi Benayoun are both hoping to return to training soon after progressing well in their recovery from respective hamstring and knee injuries.
