Rob Green made a string of superb saves during yesterday's spirited performance against Tottenham at Upton Park - and he admitted the Hammers were stunned to be on the receiving end of a 4-3 defeat after taking a 2-0 lead into half-time.
"It's heartbreaking stuff at the moment," he said. "I think we went through more in one game there than some teams do in a season. It was very disappointing.
"It sounds ironic but if you score goals early on it can put you under a bit of pressure. It's nice to go into the lead and have something to defend, but to score three goals at home and not get something from the game is criminal."
Despite losing the game in the fifth minute of injury time, Rob revealed that the team had taken heart from the fans' response at the final whistle.
"Their reaction was fantastic," he said. "To lose at home and still get clapped off - they've seen everyone putting everything into it and you can't ask for any more.
"We're fighting for our lives and if we don't put that effort in for every game then we should be shot."
