Young West Ham United defender Jordan Spence has been
called up to the England Under-17 squad for an international
tournament next month.
Spence has been selected by coach John Peacock for February's
Algarve Tournament in Portugal, which will see the Under-17s take
on some of the best sides in Europe.
The tournament will be the first opportunity to look at how the
players have been developing over the past few months before
selecting the squad that will take part in the Elite Round of
qualification for the UEFA Under-17 European Championship in March.
In this friendly tournament, England's first match will be
against the hosts Portugal on Saturday 17th February. They then
face France on Sunday 18th February, before meeting Germany in the
final game on the following Tuesday 20th February.
England have been pitted against Serbia, Bosnia & Herzegovina
and Azerbaijan in the Elite European Championship draw, with the
qualification round starting on March 23 in Bosnia.
