Lee Bowyer enjoyed his return to action in last night's reserve match at Charlton and is hoping his first team comeback will follow soon.
"It was just nice to get 90 minutes under my belt," he said. "I was a bit rusty early on, but I suppose that is to be expected after two months out, and as the game went on I felt fitter and sharper.
"I've been in full training for almost two weeks now and I felt strong. But you can't get a feel for a genuine match situation until you get out there, so I was pleased with the way things went."
Lee delivered a solid performance and even came close to doubling the Hammers' lead before Charlton came back to score late on and clinch a 1-1 draw.
"I got myself in behind for a chance early in the second half and, although I didn't score, it was encouraging to get in that sort of position," he said. "There was also a quick tempo in midfield, so it was good for me to close people down and work hard.
"My shoulder felt fine. You can never tell what is going to happen in a game, but I've landed on it a couple of times now and it has been fine, so hopefully I can step things up and stay fit for the rest of the season."
