James Collins says he and his team-mates are determined to
make the most of a timely opportunity to rescue their Premiership
status as the season draws to a close.
The Welsh international defender played a key role as Hammers battled to a crucial 1-0 win against Everton on Saturday and, with our other relegation rivals failing to pick up victories, next weekend's trip to Wigan Athletic now becomes a momentous occasion.
"It was a vital win," says James. "We've put ourselves in a good position ahead of the game against Wigan next week - now we've got to show the same spirit and fight to make sure we get a result up there.
"It was a massive blow for us at Sheffield United last week, all the boys were disappointed, and we've got to make sure we don't slip up this time.
"The other results this weekend have gone our way, and we have to follow it up now. There is a lot of pressure on us, but we know what we've got to do.
"It was tough against Everton, but we defended well and everyone contributed to the clean sheet. The win has given us confidence, and if we play the same way at Wigan next week then I'm sure we can get the result we need."
