As a lifelong Hammers supporter, Mark Noble today appealed
to his fellow fans to stoke up the atmosphere at Upton Park on
Wednesday night for the visit of Chelsea.
"We need all the fans to be behind us and make it a cauldron in there," he said. "We need to make as much noise as we can. That spurs the boys on.
"We haven't had a home game for a couple of weeks now and the night games are always a bit special because we're under the floodlights. We're looking forward to it."
Following the disappointment of Saturday's 3-0 defeat at Bramall Lane, the 19-year-old midfielder said: "It helps that the sun's shining today. We're trying to forget about it really. It was a poor day at the office for us. We need to bounce back and play how we normally do on Wednesday because that wasn't good enough for us.
"They obviously got the free-kick and scored before half-time, which was a big blow. Then we gave away two sloppy goals which shouldn't have happened. We had a chat this morning with everyone and we're raring to go for Wednesday now."
But despite Chelsea having played extra-time yesterday in their FA Cup semi-final win against Blackburn, Mark isn't convinced it will affect their stamina.
"I think it comes into play but they've got such a big squad with some world class players so their manager can change it around a bit. It's a massive game for them as well, they're chasing Man United and their going to want to get three points and we are too. It's an important game for both of us.
"We always start brightly at home and we've got to give it everything we've got. We've got another important game on Saturday at home against Everton. If we come out with anything on Wednesday night it will be a massive boost and we can go into Saturday's game with confidence."
