Mark Noble admitted he was looking forward to a well-earned
rest after producing another all-action midfield display in
yesterday's 1-0 win at Arsenal.
"To be the first team to come and win at the Emirates is a fantastic feeling," said the 19-year-old after the memorable triumph over Arsene Wenger's men took Hammers to within two points of Premiership safety. "And hopefully the gaffer will now give us a couple of days off after all the chasing we've done!
"It hasn't really sunk in yet, but I'm delighted of course. I look up to these sort of games and, as a professional footballer, these are the sort of the stadiums you want to play at. We walked out before the game and the pitch was like a bowling green - we were all looking forward to getting out and playing on it.
"We rode our luck a bit, they started very sharp and we were chasing the ball in the first 15 minutes, but after that I thought we got it together and played some good stuff at times.
"It seemed to me that they had about 200 chances, but they didn't put the ball in the back of the net and we did - and that's all that matters.
"We showed diligence to get the win," added Mark. "We've proved in the last three games that if you work hard, you get results, and now all the boys are looking forward to next week's game at Sheffield United.
"We're now only two points behind them and Charlton, so we know that next weekend will give us a chance to get ourselves out of the bottom three if other results go our way again.
"All we are focused on, though, is continuing our winning run and building on today's result. It's a fantastic feeling, but there is still a lot of work to do, and we've got to keep it going."
