After Saturday's 2-0 win over Middlesbrough, George
McCartney insisted the Hammers are looking forward to the
challenges ahead.
"Our confidence is up again," he said. "The past is
over with. You have to look to the games ahead. It's a massive
game next week against Arsenal but we beat them at home a few
months ago and I can't see any reason why we can't put in
another good performance with our confidence high and look to get
something.
Alan Curbishley was able to field the same back four for two games
running for the first time since his arrival at the club, and
George insisted the benefits were obvious.
"There have been so many injuries it's been changing every
game," he said. "When you don't have a settled team
it does have an effect. For the last two games we've kept the
same back four and I think you can tell.
"If the same set of players gets a run in the team it pays
off. We did reasonably well against Blackburn but to get the clean
sheet was a bonus."
"I forget the last time I had a clean sheet, it's been a
while. But it's nice to keep a clean sheet and Tevez and Bobby
popped up with another goal each. They did their work up front and
we did ours at the back. It was a good all round performance.
"It's nice if you don't score yourself to get an
assist. I just crossed it in and I think it bounced off their
defender and fell to Tevez. He doesn't miss from
there."
