Pardew welcomes Magnusson

Alan Pardew has welcomed new owner Eggert Magnusson to Upton Park at the dawn of a bright new era for West Ham United.

The Hammers boss admitted he was pleased that the uncertainty and speculation surrounding the Club in recent months had come to an end, and was looking forward to taking on the new, exciting challenges that lie ahead.

Speaking to WHUTV, he said: "It's been dragging on for some time now and we are all pleased to welcome Mr Magnusson to the Club. We have a new consortium in place and can now move forward.

"I have been enthused by what Mr Magnusson and his group want to try and do. They want European football, which we've had taste of, and there are a lot of goals to go for over the next few years. There's no reason why we can't achieve them and I am very excited for the future of our Club."

Pards also had a special word for outgoing chairman Terry Brown, who will stay on at the Club in an Honorary Vice-President role.

He said: "Terry has always backed me to the hilt and been a great support and guidance. I know he is to stay on in some capacity and that will be good for the Club."
