Hammers riding high in Fair Play table

West Ham United players have once again been praised for their attitude and behaviour on the pitch following the release of the latest FA Premier League Fair Play tables.

With 20 yellow cards and not a single red one in the 10 matches played up to the end of October, Hammers currently sit sixth in the table, which is compiled from marks awarded by The FA Premier League Match Delegates.

However, it isn't only the collection of red and yellow cards that contributes towards a team's placing in the table. Marks are also awarded on positive play, respect towards opponents, respect towards the referee and the behaviour of club officials.

Watford currently top the table, with an overall average score of 8.80 per game, while Manchester United sit second with a score of 8.68, closely followed by Aston Villa and Tottenham on 8.65, Arsenal on 8.61, and then Hammers, whose average score reads 8.44.

Prize money of £30,000 is awarded to the club finishing the Season at the top of the Fair Play League, with the winners in with a possible chance of qualifying for the UEFA Cup thanks to their achievement.
