Galey's View

The signing of Scott Parker is a real coup for Alan and the Club. Like Lucas Neill, he is another player who leads from the front and you can't have enough of those in the Premiership.

I've seen a lot of Scott's career as I used to cover Charlton for Capital Gold Radio. His partnership with Claus Jensen in the middle of the Addicks' midfield was one of the best, yet most underrated, pairings around.

He moved to Chelsea and never really got the chances that he deserved. He then transferred to Newcastle, where I know the Geordie fans loved his all-out commitment. Now his move back down south will hopefully give him the platform for getting back into the England squad.

Talking only about Scott's commitment would be undermining his skill factor. At his best he's a good passer of the ball and moves quickly across the ground when he's in possession. In finishing, the West Ham fans love a trier. Scott certainly is that and they will take him to their hearts.
