Williams Joins Ipswich

West Ham United can confirm that midfielder Gavin Williams has completed a permanent transfer to Ipswich Town for a fee of £300,000.

The 25-year-old, who originally joined the Hammers from Yeovil in December 2004, has been on loan at Portman Road since November, making nine Championship appearances and scoring one goal for Joe Royle's men.

Welsh international Gavin, who made his full debut for his country against Slovenia last August and was on the bench against England for the World Cup qualifier in September, appeared just once for West Ham United this season, in the 4-2 Carling Cup second round victory at Sheffield Wednesday.

After arriving at Upton Park in a £250,000 deal from Yeovil last season, he made 10 championship appearances for the club, including an impressive performance against Ipswich in our 2-0 win on New Year's Day.

However, following our promotion to the Premiership, Gavin has found first-team opportunities hard to come by, and headed on loan to Ipswich in search of regular senior action.

West Ham United would like to thank Gavin for his efforts in the claret and blue and wish him all the best for his future career at Portman Road.
