Eggert Magnusson tonight welcomes Bjorgolfur
Gudmundsson, Honorary Life President of West Ham United, to a match
at Upton Park for the first time since the recent takeover of the
Club.
Mr Gudmundsson was the main financial supporter of the consortium
led by our new Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Mr Magnusson
and, having visited the Boleyn Ground for the first time on Monday,
he will take his seat in the Director's Box for tonight's
Premiership clash against Wigan Athletic.
Speaking ahead of this evening's game, Mr Gudmundsson says:
"I am delighted to be involved in West Ham United and honoured
to be appointed by Mr Magnusson as the Club's Honorary Life
President.
"As Chairman, Eggert is totally in charge of all the decisions
relating to the Club and I am happy that I can support my friend of
many years in this venture. He and I share a passion for the game
in England and a real ambition for the future of West Ham United.
"I will help in any way I can, but it is Eggert who will lead
and decide the best way forward. For me, the investment in West Ham
United is an opportunity to fulfil my football passion and to play
a role in taking this great club to the next level of its
development."
Eggert Magnusson says: "I have been delighted by the warm
welcome I have received since I came to West Ham United two weeks
ago and I am sure the supporters will join me in welcoming Mr
Gudmundsson to this great football club.
"He is a great friend and visionary and will be a huge asset
to West Ham United with his experience in both business and
football."
