Hammers v Liverpool

Team News: Alan Pardew has no major injury worries after Sunday's FA Cup semi-final victory over Middlesbrough, although Hayden Mullins and Dean Ashton both picked up slight knocks at Villa Park, while Danny Gabbidon and Anton Ferdinand will be monitored after making returns from injury on Sunday.

Liverpool are expected to make wholesale changes to their line-up following their own FA Cup semi-final win at the weekend - against Chelsea on Saturday - although winger Bolo Zenden is the only player definitely ruled out through injury.

Past meetings:
Liverpool visit Upton Park tonight for the first time since February 2, 2003, when goals from Milan Baros, Steven Gerrard and Emile Heskey gave the Reds a 3-0 victory against relegation-bound Hammers.

Our last home win against the Merseysiders came on November 28, 1999, as Trevor Sinclair's 45th minute strike earned Harry Redknapp's men a 1-0 triumph - a game that current goalkeeper Shaka Hislop played in.

Ahead of our FA Cup final clash against Liverpool on May 13, minds will be cast back to the only other major domestic final encounter between the two clubs - the League Cup final back in 1981 (also the last major final Hammers appeared in).

In the original clash at Wembley, Ray Stewart's ice-cool penalty in the final minute of extra-time earned Hammers a deserved replay after Liverpool had taken the lead in controversial style just minutes earlier, when Sammy Lee - lying injured in an offside position in front of goal - ducked to allow Alan Kennedy's long-range effort to fly past Phil Parkes and into the net.

In the replay at Villa Park, Paul Goddard's 10th minute header gave John Lyall's men the lead, but Liverpool replied with two goals in the space of four minutes, from Kenny Dalglish and Alan Hansen, to win the trophy.

Howard Webb
