Team News: Anton Ferdinand has failed to
recover from his hip injury, but Matthew Etherington and Nigel
Reo-Coker are both included in Alan Pardew's squad after
picking up slight knocks last week. James Collins is also available
after illness, and young winger Kyel Reid is involved after
impressing for the reserve team recently.
Squad to face Manchester City: Hislop, Walker, Bywater, Scaloni,
Konchesky, Gabbidon, Collins, Ward, Benayoun, Newton, Mullins,
Reo-Coker, Fletcher, Etherington, Sheringham, Ashton, Harewood,
Zamora, Katan, Reid.
Manchester City, meanwhile, have midfielders Joey Barton and
Stephen Ireland missing through injury, and are hoping that Antoine
Sibierski and Claudio Reyna are fit enough to return. Former
Hammers David James and Trevor Sinclair are both expected to start
against their former club.
Past meetings: Hammers face City for the second
time in four weeks following last month's FA Cup quarter-final
victory at the City of Manchester Stadium, but this is the first
visit of the Sky Blues to Upton Park since September 2002, when the
two sides fought out a 0-0 draw. In the Hammers team that day were
David James and Trevor Sinclair, who have since moved to City.
