GOALS by Joe Cole and Fredi Kanoute gave West Ham United a 2-2 Premiership draw on Arsenal's last visit to Upton Park on 24th August 2002. The Gunners' last Premiership win at West Ham was on 21st October 2000 with Robert Pires' strike plus Rio Ferdinand's own goal. The Hammers' last Premiership victory at home to Arsenal was 2-1 on 3rd October 1999 with two goals from Paolo Di Canio.

ENGLAND INTERNATIONAL

Former West Ham United left-back Nigel Winterburn was capped twice by England whilst at Arsenal. Moving to Highbury from Wimbledon for £350,000 in May 1987, he was a key figure as the Gunners won all three major domestic honours as well as the ECWC under George Graham, then the 'double' in 1997-98. He netted eight goals in 440 League games for Arsenal prior to joining West Ham in July 2000, scoring once in 82 Premiership outings while at Upton Park. Ex-Arsenal strikers Davor Suker and Kaba Diawara also played for the Hammers during the 2000-01 campaign.

LEADING MARKSMAN

Ex-West Ham United striker Ian Wright was Arsenal's leading marksman in six consecutive seasons. Moving to Highbury from Crystal Palace for £2,500,000 in September 1991, the England international starred as Arsenal won the FA Cup and Coca-Cola Cup in 1992-93. He helped the Gunners to reach the ECWC final in two consecutive seasons and featured in the 1997-98 'double' campaign, scoring 128 goals in 221 League games before being sold to West Ham for £750,000 in July 1998. Leading goalscorer in 1998-99, he netted nine times in 22 Premiership outings for the Hammers prior to joining Celtic in October 1999.

DOUBLE WINNER

One-time Hammers centre-forward John Radford starred in Arsenal's 1970-71 'double' triumph. Signing professional at Highbury in March 1964, the England international played for the Gunners in two consecutive League Cup finals and was leading marksman as Arsenal won the Fairs Cup in 1969-70. He was an FA Cup finalist for the second consecutive year in 1971-72 and netted 11 goals in 379 First Division games prior to joining West Ham for £80,000 in December 1976. Making 28 League appearances while at Upton Park, he moved to Blackburn Rovers for £20,000 in February 1978.

IRISH INTERNATIONAL

Republic of Ireland international midfielder Liam Brady was capped while at both Arsenal and West Ham. Signing professional at Highbury in August 1973, he was ever-present for the Gunners in 1975-76 and starred in three successive FA Cup finals including the 1979 Wembley triumph. He also featured in the 1980 ECWC final and netted 43 goals in 235 First Division games before being sold to Juventus for £514,000 in July 1980. Moving to West Ham from Ascoli for £100,000 in March 1987, he scored nine times in 89 League outings for the Hammers and is now Arsenal's head of youth development.

WEMBLEY WINNER

Former West Ham United central defender Steve Walford featured in Arsenal's 1979 FA Cup final triumph at Wembley. Following Terry Neill to Highbury from Tottenham Hotspur for £25,000 in August 1977, the England Youth international netted three goals in 77 First Division games for Arsenal prior to joining Norwich City for £175,000 in March 1981. He joined West Ham in August 1983 for £160,000 and scored twice in 115 League outings before moving to Hong Kong side Lai Sun in August 1989. Ex-West Ham striker Bobby Gould scored for Arsenal in the 1969 League Cup final.

IN SAFE KEEPING

Former Arsenal goalkeeper Jim Standen was a key figure in West Ham's 1965 ECWC final triumph. Moving to Highbury from Rickmansworth in April 1953, the footballing-cricketer contested a first-team slot with Jack Kelsey and made 35 First Division appearances for Arsenal prior to joining Luton Town for £8,000 in October 1960. He joined West Ham in November 1962 and featured prominently in the 1964 FA Cup final success, also helping Worcestershire to win the County Championship that year. Playing 178 League games for the Hammers, he moved to Millwall in October 1968.

PLAYER OF THE YEAR

One-time West Ham United midfielder Stewart Robson was voted Arsenal's 'Player of the Year' in 1984-85. Signing professional at Highbury in November 1981, he made his League debut at West Ham a month later and helped the Gunners to reach the FA Cup and Milk Cup semi-finals in 1981-82. The England U-21 international netted 16 goals in 151 First Division games before being sold to West Ham for £700,000 in January 1987 and was 'Player of the Year' in 1987-88. Scoring four times in 69 League outings for the Hammers, he overcame a long-term pelvic injury and joined Coventry City in March 1991.
 
TOP SCORER

Former Arsenal striker John Hartson was West Ham United's top scorer in 1997-98. Moving to Highbury from Luton Town for £2,500,000 in January 1995, the Welsh international scored for Arsenal in the 1995 ECWC final and netted 14 goals in 53 Premiership games prior to joining West Ham for a record £3,200,000 in February 1997. He starred alongside fellow newcomer Paul Kitson as the Hammers pulled clear of relegation danger that season and scored 24 times in 60 League outings while at Upton Park before being sold to Wimbledon for a record £7,000,000 in January 1999.

TITLE TRIUMPH

Ex-West Ham wing-half Archie Macaulay starred in Arsenal's 1947-48 League Championship success. Moving to Upton Park from Glasgow Rangers in June 1937, he netted 29 goals in 83 League games for West Ham prior to joining Brentford in October 1946. The Scottish international joined Arsenal in July 1947 and scored once in 103 First Division outings before moving to Fulham in June 1950. The likes of Clive Allen, Jim Bigden, Jimmy Bloomfield, Lee Chapman, Stan Earle, Fergus Hunt, Peter Kyle, Roddy McEachrane, James Marshall and Charlie Satterthwaite have also played for both clubs.
