Matty's Victory Vow

MANY fans may still be in dreamland after Monday night's demolition of Aston Villa, but Matty Etherington knows that come Saturday all that matters is the task ahead - coming away from Craven Cottage victorious.

"Getting three points is the be all and the end all," said Matty.

"And getting as many points as we can on the board makes our jobs a lot easier come the end of the season.

"We want to get something out of the game. Fulham are a good side at home and we know that it will be tough, but if we play anywhere like we did on Monday night we should get some kind of result.

Alan Pardew's men will certainly be in high spirits, and Matty believes that they have what it takes to get that win.

"The lads are full of confidence and you can tell that in training today,"
he said.

"There's a lot of confidence in the side and we've just got to keep it going, put the effort into our performance and I'm sure we'll be alright on Saturday."

The 24-year-old realises though that there is still along way to go and assures that the players will keep their feet on the ground despite their flying start.

"We're not getting carried away," he added, "we know there's a lot of tough games to come and there are going to be times when things aren't going to go our way.

"But they are going our way at the minute and we've just got to make the most of it and make sure we get as many points as we can."

Matty has started every game so far in his familiar role out wide on the left, and has forged a formidable partnership with Paul Konchesky down that flank.

"It's a really good partnership," said Matty

"I know Konch from when I've played with him for England Under-21s. He's a great player, very quick and strong and we seem to have a good understanding going, so long may it continue. We seem to know each other's games well and it's looking strong on the left.

Pardew has kept with more or less the same team for West Ham's opening four games and that consistency seems to be having a very positive effect.

"It always helps when you've got a side that's starting week in week out.
You get to know each other, there's continuity running through the side and it's definitely helping.

Although he's had fantastic start to the campaign personally, the Cornwall born winger's first thoughts are still towards the team effort.

"It has gone well for me personally so far but it's going well for all the team at the moment. There's not any one individual that you could say is not doing it, so it's good all round. The team's playing well and it's going well for myself personally."
