Ladies Lose Out Against Millwall

TWO quick goals early in the second-half saw West Ham United Ladies lose 3-1 against Millwall Lionesses at Aveley FC.

West Ham United began brightly and there were chances at both ends with Lionesses goalkeeper Krissie Glover having to pull off a number of saves.

The visitors took the lead five minutes before the interval, but the Hammers immediately bounced back with a strike from Vicky Bruce.  Vicky ironically was signed for the Hammers from Millwall in the summer and the two sides went into the half-time break level at 1-1.

It was Millwall who came out the strongest after the break and it seemed for a while that West Ham were managing to hold their own.

However, they could not hold out and two quick goals in succession gave the visitors a 3-1 cushion. Hammers were left with a mountain to climb to get back into the game but to their credit they battled hard and it was again some good goalkeeping from Krissie Glover that kept the home side at bay.  Carly Roache was unlucky not to have scored when a superb effort that hit the side-netting.

Sam Pittuck had several chances and a long range drive from Kate Fanning was saved by Glover.

This Sunday the Hammers take a break from the League and travel to AFC Wimbledon in the League Cup.
