AFTER earning only his second Premier League start of the season
against Middlesbrough on Saturday, striker Bobby Zamora is hoping
to get another run-out in tonight's Carling Cup Third
Round clash against Bolton.
The 24-year-old scored twice in Hammers 4-2 Second Round victory
over Sheffield Wednesday, and believes the Carling Cup is a great
opportunity for West Ham United to compete for silverware.
"It's a competition that we really want to do well
in," he said. "The players are determined to do the best
we can in every competition that we go into. It's up to the
manager who plays of course, but I've got my fingers crossed
that I'll get another go and I can get on the scoresheet.
"We're carrying a couple of injuries so there's likely
to be a couple of chances. Like I say, it's up to the manager
what team he wants to put out, but I'm hoping that I play
because it's another great opportunity to impress.
"The Carling Cup is a chance for the Club to win some
silverware and we're all determined to go as far as we can in
the competition.
"We put in a good performance at Sheffield Wednesday in what
was a tough tie in the last round. Hopefully we can do the business
again at Bolton."
Whoever plays, Bobby ensures that there will be an excellent team
spirit out on the pitch at the Reebok Stadium this evening.
"This is a great bunch of lads and the spirit is
terrific," he admitted. "Whoever is playing, there is
always a really strong team ethic and the lads all work really hard
for each other.
"You only have to see everyone in training and in the dressing
room to know that there is a really great atmosphere around the
squad, and that can only help us out on the pitch."
