WEST Ham United have won 3-0 in a behind-closed doors friendly
against Northampton Town at Upton Park.
An experienced Hammers line-up took to the field and quickly
asserted its authority on the match.
The hosts opened the scoring on 21 minutes when Mark Noble
converted from Luke Chadwick's cross.
The second-half saw Hammers go close on several occasions. Carl
Fletcher had some excellent chances to score, but the Wales
midfielder hit the post with a curling effort and was twice denied
by the Northampton goalkeeper.
Hammers eventually doubled their advantage with 72 minutes played,
Don Hutchison's drive from the edge of the area deflecting home
off a Northampton defender.
Luke Chadwick sealed a good West Ham work-out with a well taken
third on 78 minutes.
