MANAGER Alan Pardew was delighted to secure the signing of Shaun
Newton from Wolves, particularly as the 29-year-old former Charlton
trainee joins the Club on a permanent basis until the end of
the season.
Pards said: "It's important that Shaun is a West Ham
United player now and he has a challenge ahead until the end
of the season, which can re-energise him.
"It's good for the Club that we've brought in a player
on a permanent basis, rather than a loan deal, especially as
Shaun is very determined and really wants to play for West
Ham.
"He's a London boy, his attitude is excellent and
he'll be comfortable and assertive at right-back.
"Shaun was desperate to be a West Ham player. He's been
promoted three times and has played in the top two divisions
throughout his career. That kind of experience will be invaluable
and he has proven pedigree at this level.
"We're going into a vitally important part of the season,
when the pressure will really be on, but the stage and expectancy
won't faze him."
