HAMMERS defender Trent Mclenahan captained Austrailia in their
final two warm up games as they prepare for the World Under-20
Championships starting on Friday.
Trent played for 90 minutes as the young Socceroos went down 2-0
against NEC Nijmagen on Friday and then 45 minutes in the 4-0 win
on Sunday against another Dutch side, De Graafshap.
Trent said: "The boys are all settling in well and the
spirit is good for the first game against Benin next week."
Trent was in Korea with his national side while the Hammers were
beating Preston 1-0 in Cardiff and added: "I'm delighted
for everyone at the Club, from the manager and the players right
down to the back-room staff who have been so good to me since I
joined."
Trent ended the season on loan at MK Dons and the Academy
graduate has been on the fringes of the first-team all season. But
will Premiership status affect his chances of breaking through?
"Well for the moment I am focused on doing well for my
country," he said, "but obviously a good World Cup run
may not harm my chances."
Trent made two first team substitute appearances for the Hammers in 2004/05 plus made a full start in the League Cup against Southend United.
