Noble Gunning For England Glory

HAMMERS Academy graduate Mark Noble is hoping to kick-start his season in the perfect way, by helping the England Under-19s to victory in the UEFA European Under-19 Championships.

The 18-year-old midfielder is part of the squad of Young Lions that takes on France at Windsor Park in Belfast, kick-off 7.00pm.

And he is hoping to return to Upton Park celebrating England's first victory in the competition since 1993.

Mark said: "After winning in the Play-off Final there was no way I wanted to break up for the close season. I wanted to keep playing, because I couldn't wait to play in the Premier League and coming away with England has been brilliant."

The last time England reached the finals of the competition was in 1993 when a team inspired by Manchester United wonderkids like David Beckham, Paul Scholes and Gary Neville, and future England senior stars Sol Campbell and Robbie Fowler took home the trophey.

Mark is now hoping to join that illustrious group of players who have lifted the UEFA European Under-19 Championships for England.
