HAMMERS were once again handed a home tie in the FA Youth Cup, but
Academy Director Tony Carr admits the Fourth Round draw against
Manchester City will be a tough examination of his Under-18 side.
He said: "We've been drawn against another Premier League
side who have a very good repuation at youth level, so it's
going to be another tough tie for us.
"They will be a big, strong side and it's going to be a
physically demanding game for our players.
"They've also beaten us the last two times we've
played them, so that shows just what a tough tie it is going to be.
"Home advantage will give us a slight edge though, because
obviously you avoid the travelling and I'm looking forward to
the game immensely. It should be a great night."
Having believes his squad will also be delighted of another game at
home in the FA Youth Cup and another chance to shine under the
lights at the Boleyn Ground.
"All the boys are really up for it," added Tony,
"especially with the tie being at home. The FA Youth Cup is a
special night and it's great for them to get the chance to play
at Upton Park.
"Hopefully we can make it an extra special night against City
and get the win."
