Ladies Bow Out Of Fa Cup

THE Hammers Ladies bowed out of the FA Cup at Hanwell Town FC against South East Combination League leaders Barnet, losing 4-1.

Barnet had only lost once in the League this season and soon proved to be a match for their Premier League visitors. The home side scored two quick goals in succession in the 24th and 25th minutes and in fairness they could have extended their lead and sealed the tie in the first-half.

Minutes before the interval the Hammers gave themselves a life line when Nicola Dunsdon slotted the ball over the line in a goal-mouth scramble to send West Ham United in trailing 2-1 at the break.

In the early stages of the second-half the Hammers started to show signs of getting back into the game but the real turning point was a mysterious penalty decision awarded in favour of the home side. Neither West Ham nor Barnet could really understand why the penalty kick was given but at 3-1 the tie was all but over.

The Bees eventually extended their lead to wrap up a 4-1 win.
