THOSE fans paying close attention to events at St James' Park
on Saturday will have noted an unusual name change on the back of
Nigel Reo-Coker's shirt.
As many players do at half-time, Nigel swapped his shirt and came
out for the second-half sporting one with his name spelt
'Rio' instead of 'Reo'.
It was an unfortunate error at the Club's shirt printers Chris
Kaye, who are the official supplier of the shirt lettering to the
Premier League, which caused the problem.
Kit manager Eddie Gillam explained: "We picked up the newly
printed shirts from Chris Kaye on the Friday morning shortly before
we flew to Newcastle.
"Unfortunately, we didn't have the time to check the
shirts and by the time we spotted the error we had already arrived
in Newcastle.
"Chris Kaye have apologised to the Club for the mistake.
"We were hoping that Nigel wouldn't want to change his
shirt at half-time, but he was okay about wearing it!"
