ALAN Pardew has named a large travelling squad to face Wigan
tomorrow, which will remain together in the North West over the
weekend to prepare for the Burnley game on Tuesday night.
Fit-again Matty Etherington returns as does Tomas Repka, who has
served out the three-match ban for his sending off against Preston.
Luke Chadwick has fully recovered from the ankle knock he took
against Leicester, while Carl Fletcher and Gavin Williams have
returned from international duty with Wales to take their places in
the squad.
A bizarre succession of calf injuries denies Pards of Malky Mackay,
Sergei Rebrov, Steve Lomas and Christian Dailly this weekend,
while Don Hutchison (knee) is a long-term absentee.
Young forward Hogan Ephraim has been called up to the travelling
squad after impressing on duty with the England Under-17s this
week.
The team to face Wigan Athletic will be chosen from the
following squad:
Bywater (GK), Walker (GK), Etherington, Mullins, Powell, Cohen,
Reo-Coker, Chadwick, Williams, Repka, Fletcher, Ferdinand,
Harewood, Zamora, Sheringham, Newton, Noble, Ward, Ephraim,
Brevett.
