Marlon On Win

Marlon Harewood is delighted to see Bobby Zamora back in action - even if he did sacrifice scoring himself to try and give him his hat trick.

Marlon handed the ball to Bobby after winning a penalty himself against Notts. County and says:

"I was going to take it but Bobby was on his hat trick having scored two good goals and I gave it to him.

"What can I say after that?!

"I was nominated as penalty taker but like any striker, if you are on a hat trick, you want to take it."

There was a long delay prior to the penalty being struck and Marlon adds:

"The ref was being silly, really - a bit over the top."

Marlon played several times with Bobby last season, and he adds:

"Me and Bobby have great link-up play and I was trying to set him up all through the game, having played together last season, and it is good to have him back - now we will take it from there.

"It is good to see him back as it is with any player returning from injury, and we do have a good squad here."

Now Bobby is looking to compete with Marlon, and Teddy Sheringham who was rested on Tuesday, for a place up front.

"It is good competition and you have to play well to keep your spot because there are other people looking to hunt you down," he says.

Marlon is also pleased that Sergei Rebrov is off the mark and he adds:

"Once you get your first goal you can take it on from there."

Of the game overall, he admits:

"I think we made it hard by being too laid back so we had to go out in that second half and put it to bed."
