Mattie Positive

Matthew Etherington admits it was two points dropped against Ipswich at the weekend - but insists the performance was a good one.

"They played well in the second half so it was difficult; they passed the ball a bit better and we let our foot off the pedal in the first 10 minutes - which is when they scored," he says, looking back on the 1-1 with Ipswich.

"To be fair, after that, they didn't look like scoring again but I thought we did all right after not being so bright at the start of the second half - there were chances for us but we didn't manage to put them away.

"We were playing really well and created loads of chances; we outplayed them and looked good.

"But a draw is not too bad, and though it is two points dropped rather than one gained we are still in a good position and we have to kick on."

As for the penalty miss, Matthew says:

"Nine times out of 10 Teddy will put that in the back of the net but Saturday wasn't his day - he is experienced enough to deal with that.

"I think he mis-hit it but it was one of those things."

Matthew remains upbeat about the way things are going, and adds:

"It has been quite a good week with two wins and a draw; it would have been nice to get that third win but it wasn't to be.

"We have to make sure Wigan don't pull away and it is a tough game against Forest next weekend."

Matthew is hoping for a good attendance against Notts. County and adds:

"It was a great atmosphere and the crowd were good again on Saturday."

* Watch out for the performance of 33 year old County defender Ian Richardson - he is a confirmed West Ham fan.

Children Sam and Georgia are mascots for the game which will see Ian fulfilling a lifetime ambition to play at Upton Park.
