Sergei Out, Don Stays

Sergei Rebrov is out of the trip to Plymouth at the weekend - which means Don Hutchison will not be going out on loan, for the time being, at least.

Reveals Alan Pardew:

"We lost Sergei Rebrov as he had a slight knock to the knee on Wednesday night - it looks like he will be unavailable on Saturday, but we don't think it will keep him out of the Tuesday fixture at Cardiff.

"Don Hutchison was going to go out on loan for a month but I have held him back because he is going to be involved now, with Teddy also missing.

"We were looking to loan him for a month to get him up to speed - but that doesn't suit us now."

Alan Pardew will have a bigger squad to choose from this weekend, though, and he adds:

"Other than that we will have Calum and Fletch back - and possibly Chris Powell as well."

Reflecting on the performance at Stamford Bridge, Alan adds:

"I thought we were committed and we had a way of trying to unlock their door by hitting them on the break.

"We just let ourselves a little bit down in that last third but other than that we were determined and at least we gave a good show to the fantastic support we had.

"You can't get blase about that support; you have got to respect it because the fans are the lifeblood of the club.

"It is a shame it was marred by one or two with the coin throwing and we want no part of that because there was good humour in the crowd.

"The news reports highlight the ones who spoiled things but we had some wonderful support there, in good humour and good heart.

"It was nice to go and see the fans at the end - and we won't be distracted by the fact that it was just a few involved in that."
