Terry Rested

Bobby Zamora will not get his wish to face his pal John Terry on Wednesday evening - despite Chelsea naming a squad of 24 players, he is rested.

Hammers fan Terry played with Bobby in the famous Senrab youth team in Barking, who have also numbered Rio Ferdinand, Sol Campbell, and Ledley King amongst their past pupils.

The other missing Chelsea players are Didier Drogba and Adrian Mutu, while William Gallas, Ricardo Carvalho, Mateja Kezman and Njitap Geremi will definitely play.

Alan Pardew is hoping for another good performance from Bobby, who got back to his goal scoring ways on Saturday, and says:

"Bobby had a couple of sticky games after coming back from injury but he is a good player and I was pleased he didn't hide on Saturday which many players would have - I have seen it happen.

"He put himself up for it, made two, and scored one - you couldn't have asked for any more than that."

In the continued absence of Teddy Sheringham with a thigh problem, there is a burden of responsibility on Bobby - and Alan insists that he can grasp it.

"Teddy has had a lot of attention, and rightly so because he has been terrific," says Alan, "but he wasn't on the bench on Saturday and perhaps that gave a little freedom to Bobby's game - it must be tough having someone like Teddy in the background.

"But you grow and you learn from that; as a player I had better ones in front of me and you always try and improve.

"Ultimately, if you work hard enough you can get in front of them - and that is Bobby's challenge."
