Continuity Is Key

Peter Grant feels that there is a settled squad at Upton Park now - and the benefits are showing on the field.

Peter says the win over Wolves on Saturday was more than deserved and reflects:

"It was a good game for the neutrals between two big name teams who wanted to win the game.

"We had a bit of luck and a bit of quality with Teddy that has probably been lacking in the last few games - and I think it was the right result.

"It would have been a very frustrating week if we had not got any more than what we did against Wolves after only getting the one point from the previous two games - it became a massive win for us and we are delighted with that.

"There have been a lot of changes even since I came in January and we have not really had a settled period where you can pick near enough the same team every time.

"But we seem to be able to pick the same squad of players with the 18 to 20 being available to us and I think that has been important because they are all involved in every training session and everyone knows what is being asked of them, what their job entails, but also knowing they have a freedom to express themselves within the team framework.

"I think we are seeing the rewards of that whereas maybe we have been waiting to the last moment to work on team shape and whatever because we have not had everyone available for one part of the week.

"For this period we have managed to have 90% of them ready - and it makes a difference."
