Rufus: We're Better Equipped

Rufus Brevett insists that West Ham are better equipped than Wigan to mount a promotion challenge.

He is not fazed by their unbeaten stint at the top of the Championship and explains:

"Wigan are very, very strong, but it will be interesting to see what they have got as back-up if the two up front get injured or suspended.

"I think we have got a bigger and a better squad than Wigan and I think that will come into account later in the season."

Looking back at the defeat by Cardiff, he admits:

"Tuesday was a disaster and it is best forgotten.

"I think every team goes through a game they would rather forget and that was one of ours - it is out of the way now."

West Ham now have two Upton Park games on the trot and Rufus says:

"I think the home form has been quite decent, but it is a local derby and it is going to be a feisty encounter.

"We played them a few weeks ago and they beat us 1-0, so it is going to be difficult, and we will just have to see what happens.

"The home form always has to be good if you are looking to do something in this league - and it hasn't been too bad."

Rufus, a Nottingham Forest fan as a kid, took particular interest in Adam Nowland's move to Nottingham Forest, and he says:

"It is a great move for him; he is a good player and was unlucky here - he will do well at Forest just as Jobi McAnuff has at Cardiff, so good luck to him."

Rufus is enjoying his battle with Chris Powell for a left back spot, and he concludes:

"I have been trying to work hard and that is all you can do as a professional."
