Steve's Feeling Fine

Steve Lomas has shaken off illness for the home game with Ipswich - after giving every drop of energy at Portman Road on Saturday.

To have been robbed of playing by illness at the weekend after virtually his whole season was blighted by injury would have been cruel indeed, but fortunately Steve did make it to get through the 90 minutes.

"I have two young kids and one of them goes to nursery so they seem to pick up everything off everybody; whenever the kids get it you know you are going to get a little taste of it," he says.

"I had a little bit of a stomach bug and it was just unfortunate with the timing.

"I didn't train on Friday but I played on Saturday and, Sod's Law, it has to be the hottest day of the year.

"It is one of those things you have to deal; with the timing couldn't have been worse but I feel a lot better now.

"We are not immune from illness and at one point it was feared it was chicken pox."

Looking at the first tie, he says:

"The first half was to and fro with both sides having chances and I thought after the initial 15-20 minutes when they came at us a little bit, which you would expect, we got a grip of the game.

"Going in at half time we were not in not total control - but we were pretty comfortable.

"In the second half I thought we were pretty comfortable again but they got the goal which gave them and the crowd a huge lift.

"We were a bit shaken at that stage which is what happens when you concede a goal but I felt, overall, nobody deserved to win it.

"They might say they think they had the clearer chances with one being cleared off the line but we had three good chances in the first half and a couple of near misses in the second half.

"It was one of those games where you are going to get a range of opinion."

As for the second leg, he says:

"I really am looking forward to it and I know the crowd are going to be up for it, so hopefully we can give them something to cheer about - the atmosphere is going to be electric.

"We want to get the right result and have another two weeks of football - that would be delightful.

"I don't think they will try and close it down because the way they play they have got to attack, but I am sure they are going to be somewhat cagey as the away team.

"I think it will be a good game; it is an intriguing tie, really, as you don't know what they are going to do.

"But we know what we have to do and, like the one last night with the teams going away leading, it couldn't be balanced better.

"It can go either way - and I am sure Sky are loving it."
