Bobby: I Can Do Better

Peter Grant says the players must not get over-confident at Turf Moor - while Bobby Zamora is looking to put in a better performance than he felt he did on his home debut!

"In this division people are capable of beating each other," warns Peter.

"We have gone to Burnley on the back of a win - but that doesn't matter at a quarter to eight if you don't produce the performance."

That is something that concerns Bobby, who, despite being the match winner at the weekend, feels there is more to come.

"It wasn't the best performance from myself against Cardiff; I was disappointed because I didn't get hold of the ball," he says.

"I set my standards pretty high and I had a couple of chances but I can do better.

"I hit the bar but that is not a goal, is it? It doesn't get you three points.

"But to come away with three points was the main thing and I was delighted to get a goal.

"I am in a good team that is creating a lot of chances; I am confident I will get them and it is up to me to put them away.

"I don't feel pressure to score goals, though, because there are so many good players in the team."

Bobby has no regrets about his move to Upton Park, and he says:

"I wouldn't have considered dropping down for any other club than West Ham - it was perfect for me and although there were a couple of other clubs that wanted me they wouldn't have come anywhere near.

"Tony Cottee was my hero and I used to watch him from the West Upper; there were a couple of good seasons and a couple of off ones when I watched, but that is football.

"There are a lot of West Ham supporters in my family.

"It was really frustrating sitting on the bench at Spurs and just getting 10 minutes here and there so hopefully I can progress with West Ham.

"I think there is a very good chance of going up this year but if we don't I don't think there will be anyone near us next year with the gaffer bringing in a lot of good young players - and I am sure he will add to that in the close season."
