We'll Repay The Faith Says Pards

Alan Pardew says he is proud of the West Ham fans - and hopes to repay their faith this season.

"It has been fantastic to be manager of this club," he says.

"The fans take your breath away at times and the passion has certainly come through to me.

"Defeat in the play-off final just bonds me closer to them and makes me more determined - that is the sort of player I am.

"Hopefully our fans will take to me again and trust me; the important thing is that they do trust the man in charge, and hopefully I have earned that over the last six months.

"We missed out by a close call but this year there can be no mistake; I am under no illusions that I need to take this team up - and I am determined to do it.

"The power of this club is the supporter and it always has been.

"We are a working class kind of club and we have to work hard.

"I expect my players to work to work as hard as our punters do when they go to work - they want to see that on a Saturday.

"And they like to see the game played the right way with a bit of flair on top of that.

"Hopefully we will have all those ingredients next year; I think there were times certainly in the middle part of my campaign where that wasn't evident, and there is a transitional period that you have to go through to get your points across.

"I feel we are going about it in the right way."
