Hayden's Happy

Hayden Mullins says he is enjoying his football at the moment - and is happy to play at the back.

Hayden played centre half in the defeat by Fulham midweek, and he has also filled both full back positions as well as performing in midfield this season.

"I can play in defence and that is not hassle from me though I would like to settle down in one position, really, and concentrate on that," he says.

"I have played in midfield mostly but I think the gaffer sees me more as a defender now so I will have to concentrate on that side of it.

"I think I am seen as a full back but as long as I am in the team I am not going to turn round and say 'no, I don't want to do it' - I will happily do it.

"I am getting a bit of experience in different positions so it is okay and I am happy.

"Things couldn't be going better at the moment."

Looking back on West Ham's exit from this season's FA cup, he says:

"I think that we were the team on top for a good period of the game; through all of the first half and a lot of the second half.

"It is quite disappointing; I don't know what went wrong but obviously we missed a lot of chances and we should have put a few of them away.

"And, at the back, when the first one went in we sort of crumbled as a whole side.

"After the first goal Christian was off for a long time and then I think we just threw it away rather than it being great play by them - it was our own undoing, really.

"It was credit to Fulham; they kept going and soaked up our pressure."

Hayden thinks that the job could have been done in the match at Loftus Road, and says:

"In the first game their goalkeeper got man of the match and maybe we should have finished them off at Loftus Road. "But they got a second life and came back to beat us.

"It could be a blessing in disguise being out of the cup and we can sit down and concentrate on the first eleven now because you do have to chop and change - though it does give the opportunity for different players to play."
