The Learning Zone is based at The Boleyn Ground,
Upton Park, in the Dr Martens Stand
West Ham United Learning Zone is a stunningly
designed education centre with state of the art ICT facilities. We
are currently running the 10 week Playing For
Success and Graduates programme with
Primary and Secondary Schools in Newham.
We are also available during the daytime for hire by local
schools for a range of educational programmes ranging from ages 7
to 17 and businesses for staff training sessions.
This term, Secondary pupils will be introduced to whole range of
exciting new activities. Secondary pupils will
have 3 projects to complete by the end of the 10 weeks. The first
activity is film making using our fantastic digital blue
cameras to plan and make a film around the stadium. The
second activity helps the pupils learn how to use Paint
Shop Pro. The main aim of this project is to design a logo
design for their favourite football team. Finally, the pupils will
be learning how to use a PowerPoint. Pupils will
be researching and designing their own PowerPoint General Knowledge
quizzes. Once the quizzes have been completed the pupils will be
able to test them out on other students!!
Whereas all schools are closed for the Easter
Break, the Learning Zone was as busy as
ever!! Approximately 45 pupils from
Lister, Sarah Bonnell , Forest Gate and
Stratford school arrived at the Learning Zone
every day seeking extra support with their Numeracy,
Literacy and ICT skills. Activities on offer were
Alphabet Football,(writing a song, a poem or a rap
inspired by the theme of football), Estimating and Measuring the
Pitch and Creating Graphs in EXCEL based on the
length of a variety of pitches. The Easter school project was a
huge success and there was a very positive response from both
school staff and pupils.
