Kevin: Glad To Be Back

Kevin Horlock is delighted to be back in action - and ready to play his first game under Alan Pardew.

"It is a big time for everyone at the club with a new manager coming in and it is important for me as well as everyone else to be fit and try and impress," says Kevin, who limped out of the Norwich game at half time two weeks ago.

"There is no good time to get an injury but it was a little bit of luck that I was suspended for at least one of the games when I was out injured - and now I am glad to be back.

"The knee had been a bit sore before the game; I had taken a knock to the knee in training and it just flared up and was causing me problems.

"I rested it for the next day's training but during the game it came back and got worse and it didn't seem fair to carry on.

"I had to have a scan which showed some inflammation in the knee but there was no tear in the cartilage, luckily, which was a good sign."

Kevin is pleased that the position of permanent manager is now resolved, and he explains:

"The lads were looking forward to Alan coming as so much had been written in the press and it dragged on, but finally the day came.

"We are in a fairly good position and hopefully we will carry on improving; we realise we are not the finished article and we have got loads of room to improve - which is hopefully what we will do to get into the top two.

"I think everyone involved in football realised that Trevor wasn't interested in taking the job full time.

"Obviously the fans love him, but Alan has come in and has a great track record so we have all been looking forward to working with him."

Kevin thinks that things can only get better and adds:

"A lot of new players have come to the club and players have left so there is always that rocky spell that you inevitably get.

"But I think there is more than enough quality to get us out of this division, and the big thing is getting consistency which I am sure will come with training together."
