Don: Things Are Changing

Don Hutchison says that Alan Pardew has had an immediate - and positive - effect since taking over at the club.

That is not, of course, to decry Trevor Brooking's efforts in any way, but is merely the expression of relief that the issue of a permanent manager has now been resolved and the club can continue to move forward.

"Training has been brilliant, I have to say; Monday was really sharp with a lot of pattern of play and he has got everyone at it.

"Everyone is fighting for a place and wanting to get in the team - and he is trying to organise a lot of team spirit as well so you are not too disappointed if your mates play, so that is good.

"We are not too far off the top and for a team that has come down it would have been easy for the lads to feel sorry for themselves.

"The gaffer has tried to drum it into us that we have done remarkably well considering we were relegated last season so if we can pick it up and get all the boys firing we should win the league.

"I think he will change a lot of things; the sessions he has put on have been aggressive and the boys have not messed around in training.

"Everyone is paying attention; we are like school kids at the moment with a new teacher and if we don't perform we will be out."

Don is feeling bubbly after spectacular late strikes against Derby and Burnley recently, and he adds:

"It wasn't bad on Saturday; I hit it really well like the Derby one - it is all about timing and that was perfect.

"It should have been a winner, though, because we had a lot of chances during the game.

"The gaffer has worked hard with us this week on finishing so hopefully we can put that right on Wednesday.

"To be honest I have just got so much confidence back.

"I went through a phase in the Sheffield United game where I didn't play so well and in the Rotherham game as well, and my confidence was a bit dented.

"But having scored the two goals especially with those good strikes my confidence is sky high.

"When I am confident I feel I can do anything and I am fully fit to play so if I get the nod I will give it 100%."

Tickets are still available for the game against Nottingham Forest; while the ticket office has now reached its limit on credit card collections, tickets are still available to personal callers.

Tickets can be bought from the stadium ticket office or retail outlets in either Lakeside or Bluewater.

If arriving on the evening to either buy or collect a pre-booked ticket it is strongly advised supporters arrive as early as possible, as large numbers of fans arriving late can cause lengthy queues, and in the past some have even missed the start of the match as a result.

Supporters collecting pre-booked tickets are reminded they can collect from either the Dr Martens Stand ticket office or, from 6pm, the Priory Road ticket office which will be open for both collections and match ticket sales.

From 6.30pm match tickets will be available from pay turnstiles - this is the quickest way of gaining entry fans without tickets are asked to head straight to the following turnstile numbers.

Centenary Lower - Turnstile 4 - £22 Adults & £10 Under 16s

Bobby Moore Upper - Turnstile 48 - £27 Adults & £10 Under 16s
