Seb: It's The Club That Counts

Sebastien Schemmel says he will carry on doing his best for the club even though he is not currently in the first team after being displaced by Glen Johnson.

"The objective of every player is that West Ham stays in the Premiership - it is the most important thing, not me," he says.

"I am training very hard to get back into the team. If Glenn Roeder is not picking me I respect his choice, but it is not mine!

"I was Player Of The Year last season but I repeat, the important thing is West Ham, not me."

Of young Glen, he says: "I don't know him very well but he is playing in my space and that is good for him and his future - he is the future of the club, not me."

Sebastien hopes that Paolo Di Canio returns to the side fit and well after being in the rehabilitation centre at Bologna this week, and says his skills will still be needed for the final run-in.

"I just want people to say Paolo is a great player. Not arrogant; he is still a great player even if he talks too much in the newspaper," he says.

Of his own situation, he concludes: "I have two and a half months to wait and after, I am not sure, but I don't want to move - I want to stay, and I have two and a half more years on my contract until 2005."
