Herbie Faces The Fans!

Young Hammers fans could get the chance to take penalties against Herbie the Hammer at Upton Park this season, thanks to West Ham United's new partnership with football dream-giving outfit, clicktokick.

The club mascot will be between the sticks to face the junior spot-kicks, while a guest goalkeeper will be on hand to face the adults in the half-time penalty competitions throughout the campaign that will give two lucky fans a chance to reach the final and an opportunity to represent West Ham against other top sides. The first 'clicktokick' competition will be held on August 13th during the Carling Cup first round game against Rushden & Diamonds.

clicktokick, the brainchild of lifelong football fans Jerry Scriven and Charlie Wardle, is an organisation set up to give football fans the chance to be a striker for the day and step on the hallowed turf of their favourite team.

"We wanted to give every fan the once in a lifetime chance to feel like a hero for the day in front of their own crowd!" comments Charlie.

The clicktokick stand will be at Upton Park before our pre-season friendly clash against Dutch champions PSV Eindhoven this coming Friday, August 1, when fans will get the chance to sign up as members. The stand will be situated outside the Stadium Store in the Dr Martens Stand from 5.30pm onwards.

Every fan that joins clicktokick will have a chance of stepping onto the pitch at Upton Park during the 2003-04 season. A total of 50 fans will take part in the shoot-outs during the season, 25 Adults and 25 Juniors. The Adult grand final winner will receive £10,000 and there are many other unique and substantial prizes along the way.

To register, fans should visit www.clicktokick.com where they will find details of the participating clubs and many other benefits of membership including invitations to special Penalty Fun Days, as well as the opportunity to win prizes by building points through taking part in games, quizzes and competitions on the website. The cost is £7.50 for Juniors and £10 for Adults for full membership for the entire season.
